Those Notes Are Among My Most Significant Archival Discoveries

Despite the terrible conditions and an environment which is probably about the most repressive one you can imagine, at gestapo prison in nase, germany, mildred and her friends still found ways to resist. Sometimes they slipped these notes to each other during that walk. They would hide them in the broken mortar, between bricks, or in the cracks and fissures of the walls for other prisoners to find. These notes were strictly prohibited at the prison. Guards were for each one of these notes they confiscated. And the prisoners were punished severely if they were caught passing them or writing them.
