The Importance of Marx's Anti-Colonialism

There has been a long tradition in the interpretation of Marx to think that he equated modernization with capitalism. I think it's very clear, again, from the letter of Marx's text, published and unpublished, that he was an unconditional opponent of colonialism. We haven't even mentioned Ireland, which was one of his principal concerns. He wrote extensively in his private notes about what we would now call neo-colonial strangulation by financial forces of Egypt.
