The Strengths and Weaknesses of the Women's World Cup Team

This is one of the most talented and deepest collections of talent that any roster at this women's World Cup will have. There still is a good level of talent, it just isn't terribly tested at this World Cup level. Two of the presumed three best midfielders are unlikely to be starting regularly at the start of the tournament. Sophia Smith won US Soccer Women's Player of the Year in 2022 and it wasn't particularly close! She announced before the tournament that this will be her last World Cup and in fact, her last season of playing professional soccer.
