The Buddha's Four Reassurances to the Kalamas
The Buddha asks exactly the same questions in reference to what is wholesome, blameless, and praised by the wise. He also recommends pervading the world with compassion, gladness, and equanimity - qualities known as Brahma Viharas or divine abidings. So Kalamas, someone who is a follower of the noble ones whose attitude is thus without hostility and ill will, thus stainless and pure, finds reassurance in four ways in this very life.
