The Purgative Way: A Beginner's Guide
The purgative way is marked by periods of kind of vocal prayer, affective prayer. It's the beginning of transitioning from an attachment to earthly things and an attachment to spiritual things in God himself. So it has this work more on the exterior than anything else. But you see that, like, it's that beginning stage of what detachment from sin and attachment to God. And so at this stage, we're actually doing things. We're with our intentions, your mental act, you're intending things. You're actually often fighting things.
