The Behavior of the Jellyfish

There must be some trick to the way that these vortex rings are behaving. The jellyfish are using those same currents to feed. And so it's very plausible that in fact the motion we see is not actually the desired outcome. It's just the inevitable consequence of Newton's laws of action and reaction.
