The Importance of Simple Justice
The last thing here is satisfaction. We recognize we've mentioned this in the intro that whenever I have sinned against my neighbor, I must do what is possible in order to repair the harm. If I take something from someone and I pay them back or try to make restitution, that's not above and beyond. That is simple justice. At the same time, my sin always injures myself. My sin always weakens my own soul as well as my relationship with God and other people. It's a cruel thing. So absolution takes away the sins, but there's consequences we experience.
