Lachlan, gothak and waxam followed smoke to a clearing in the forest. Fire had ripped through standing trees and fallen limbs on the west side of the clearing. Lachlan noticed that apart from the recent fire, there had been something else destroying the trees. The three companions spread out, looking around for any signs that might tell them what had happened. But then gothak spoke. There was a fire here, gothk said. Lauchlan thought silently. He couldn't help feeling that they were in trouble.
