The Church and the Church's Relationships
Catholicism is not limited in the way that economic technical thinking is. Yet, contrary to what moderns would have us believe, it is highly rational,. It is essentially juridical, which, for schmidt, is the highest complement. The church erected a protective shell, but not as a means of retaining power. No political system survive even a generation with only naked techniques of holding power to the political sphere.
