"I have attempted to sort of speak to cultural, liturgical, ecclesiastical issues with as much humor and as much clarity as I can muster," he says. "Why shouldn't the priests who lead the people of God ... why should they not have a voice in these conversations that are happening in society? Why should we be quiet while our people are getting their interpretations from others?" He adds: "We must take a stand in the political worldview established in the first six days of creation"
