The Future of the Electoral Commission
There are big questions and debates to be had about how you do this. There isn't a perfect solution to a lot of these, but the establishment of the Electoral Commission gives us a nice opening to begin this conversation. The key example is Sligo-Lietrum, which currently has bits of South Donegal and parts of Raskam - four different counties. Those sort of scenarios are to be avoided, but when the parameters are as narrow as they are, they won't be avoided in all cases. It would perhaps be a simpler way of doing it than hiving off bits of counties that is quite an unpopular move.
