State prosecutors painted a different picture of why she adopted so many children. They said michel rothgeb's motivations were narcissism and greed. Despite receiving forty 500 dollars a month in subsidies from the state of rhode island to provide for her adopted children,michel rothga was tens of thousands of dollars in debt. She couldn't afford one child, much less eight. The judge handed michel rofga the maximum allowed sentence of 18 years.
