The Rise and Fall of Nanyao and the Tang Dynasty

Nanyao had been the weaker of the three regional powers contending with each other for two centuries. There were times when Nanyao was powerful enough to take advantage of the misfortunes that befell the Tang dynasty or the Tibetan Empire. And then there were times when they went on the war path playing the role of aggressors. In 866 the Tang army was finally able to defeat Nanyao and put an end to this long conflict and push them out of their unknown protector it.
