The Importance of Ritual in American Politics

In a lot of American rituals, bottom up, they are often anti-hierarchical in their power. This is obviously a kind of assertion of an implicitly natural hierarchy. But like Tory, people who share our political views across the pond are almost entirely besotted with and thrilled by this kind of ritual for this very reason.
