How Much Should We Push for Stats in This Way?
Expected goals and expected assists make more sense to me than open play. It's just a kind of factual representation of that player playing the final pass. I agree with it, the general thrust of his argument. But creating an open play is so much more difficult than creating from a set piece. And not to belittle chances created from set pieces, but there's got to be a conversation here about maybe splitting those up.
