Why Russia Did Not Want to Join NATO

Russia intentionally did not want those border areas to become part of its own sphere. Russia knew that if Ukraine had thorns in its side It would not be able to join NATO And that's one thing that I think people kind of forget about the situation That this idea that you know poor Russia was being beset on all sides by the evil west is wrong.
