The message that we get really in the wise teachings of all cultures are to wake up from the trance of fear. We actually have to go through the fear and as a wake away as possible so there's a story that kind of gives a motif of how this can happen about a Tibetan yogini her name is Manchak. She offers her body and her being as food to the nagas and they're stunned and then they vow their allegiance and eternal protection to her. This is the seminal story of what's called feeding rather than fighting your fears and it's described as feeding your demons.
