Eric used to be a big shot entertainment lawyer back in the day. He retired in the early 19 nineties, and started a programme for gifted public school kids in los angeles. A couple of hundred students have passed through, yes, and gone on to graduate from some of the top universities in the country. Carlos is one of his kids. When carlos was in fifth grade, eric him into a fancy elementary school in brentwood. Eric asks whether it was because carlos was poor and those kids were rich.
