Quantitative Easing and the Wealth Effect

The Fed's dual mandate nowhere in there is hey we should be protecting markets right as long as our other two mandates are met why do you think the Fed made that decision? A lot of that comes into the the wealth effect right and the very high correlation in between the price of financial assets and spending. The idea behind quantitative easing starting back in 2010 11 was to effectively push people out the risk curve meaning that if you suppress the return on safe assets what it forces people to go into riskier assets.
