New York City is one of the few cities that's bigger than its counties. The Veronzo Narrows bridge was built between Brooklyn and Staten Island to connect with New Jersey, but you had to take a ferry first. There are two uprights in the middle of the bridge - they're actually at an angle to each other due to curvature of the earth.
