You had quite arranged as you were growing up in terms of interest. A principal who was white and a family friend even before you knew him at school, decided that your school should have a black chae leader. He chose you to be a back up for the chai leaders who'd been selected by popular vote. But you also were shouted for being queer, for for doing that, by a white kid in your class. You knowi had developed some kind of shield to shield me from it.
