The title of this podcast actually comes from one of the books that i finished on sabatical by william harmless, called desert christians. It's an introduction to the literature of desert monasticism. The book ends with an extraordinary story from a little known ethiopian a text a desert father from the fourth or fifth century. And is written especially for those of us who live in large cities or suburbs. He recognized the issue was not the physical place of the desert, it was actually a desert heart.
