Do TFA Core Members Take Jobs From Veteran Teachers?
The expansion of Teach for America in urban spaces has coincided with high rates of decline among teachers of color, particularly black teachers. Observers note that hiring processes in district schools are influenced nonetheless by airtight contracts between districts and TFA leaders. Even if TFA wasn't originally founded to take away jobs from traditional teachers, that has happened with little doubt. The whole community-based model of schooling is very much being lost to a top-down managerial approach.
