In the 1840s, marijuana cannabis was an approved medication in the US used for a variety of purposes. The criminalization of cannabis had nothing to do with health or wellness or safety. It was all about racism. And underneath the racism was about competing commercial interests and different industry. So hemp goes back and forth. But it was really not based on anything medically related again. If anything, the doctors were very much in favor of keeping it legal and accessible to their patients.
