The Public and Social Cost of the 1984 Olympics

The 1984 Olympics was a really great signal moment right I mean 84 is the year that Los Angeles surpassed the Chicago as the largest city in the country. Now of course in order to prepare the city for the Olympics you get Darrell Gates and his you know massive repression of black and brown people through various gang sweep maneuvers. So it's great being here in LA because like I was a huge fan of the Olympics, I still am. And again if everything goes well with the group I'm working with we'll be able to talk about the historical moment of 84 too.
