Isaiah's Intercessory Prayer for Israel
There's a shift right after these first verses in the 63rd chapter where we leave that image of the divine warrior and then we get into a lament. Victor Ludlow sees this pattern as a lament, but he calls it and I love this label. He says, this is Isaiah's intercessory prayer for Israel. So there's some really beautiful verses where the Israelites lament. They feel like they've been forsaken. And yet the Lord says, no, I know who you are.
