Happiness and virtue line up completely, says philosopher. There's no case of self-sacrifice in Aristilian ethics. The virtuous person may well die on the battlefield for his friends. But this is no sacrifice because he is awarding himself the greater share of the noble. So you couldn't gain anything by being cowardly in a battle. He'd be making your life worse even if it went on for much longer.
