The World of Lewis' Children's Tales
i think we have intuited it at an imaginative level and that is one of the reasons why the books have been so phenomenally successful. There is a resonance between the christ character in each story and the world he inhabits. Lewis very saccratically was waiting to see how soon his readers would detect the presiding and constituting spirits of these stories. If we can't detect the governing spirit of a short children's tale why should we think we know so much about the divine spirit who upholds the actual universe?
