The Origins of the Sophists
Protagris was part of a shift in philosophical focus from the earlier pre-Socratic tradition of natural philosophy. He emphasized how human subjectivity determines the way we understand, or even construct our world. Protagris also was a proponent of agnosticism, as he questioned traditional notions about the Greek gods. Alongside Protagris, the other early and influential figure among the first generation of Sophists was Gorgius.
