If you except many worlds at all, you have to count them unequally. In principle there could be objects that bend light in such a way so that by observing it we could snoop into the past and see how our dinosaurs are being wiped out by an asteroid. But let's emphasize how impracticable it is. For one thing, when you have things like stars and planets which have gravitational fields that do bent light, they don't make sense. If you don't think many makes sense, ask yourself if there exists a particularly lucky configuration of massive objects in the universe that would happen this way.
Welcome to the May 2022 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). I take the large number of questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable size — based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good — and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic. Enjoy!
