Ludwig von Mises said monarchies of Europe had a big problem with wars of succession. LZ Granderson: People find succession worth violence and war because if their chosen person wins, they win or lose for life. He says long-term incentive argument over-optimizes doing a good job; it requires more than just economic incentive. granderson: You really have to have someone who's going to wake up and say this is my responsibility,. not thinking about how much money they're going to make.
