The Threat to the U.S. Dollar

The Chinese economy dwarfs what we've been contending with in the form of Iran, Russia, and so on. And that is why many within the Treasury contended when I was there that these Chinese banks are simply too big to sanction. One potential threat to the US dollar as global reserve currency is the growth and expansion of alternative cross-border payment systems by China and Russia.
