18: The Enigma of Emily Dickinson (Part 1)
Creative Codex
The Paradox of Perception
Emily Dickinson's poem I'm Seeded, I've Stopped Being There's is an exploration of philosophy in verse. She seems to be implying that there is a correspondence between the brain and God. In the text, she uses the word Seeded, which often means to give up something, to relinquish it. As the stanza continues, it becomes clear she has given up the Emily they wanted her to be. One Emily is the one she gave up, the other is the one that continues on. This is the brand of spirituality that Emily wholeheartedly embraces. Not the kind supported by grand standing and social pressures.
