The Comparative History of the Boxers
I think the fact that the boxers were initially going up against the Chinese government is not a bad parallel at all with the Jacobites. They had aristocratic leaders, whereas I guess the boxers, they later got support too late from Sushi, the Empress,. But from what I understand they were quite grassroots. There one thing they did have, supposedly, was the traditional two-handed sword, the claymore. So you might have a bayonet on the end of your gun, but if I come at you with a claymore, then assuming I don't miss, then there's going to be two smaller pieces of you and I'll be fine.
