Microsoft's Cut of Ethics and Society Team
Last week Microsoft announced they were cutting their entire ethics and society team I mean like I don't have any faith that these internal AI ethics or tech ethics teams at these companies are doing anything anyways but it is just a real signifier of the like mask off pivot right where Microsoft's like we're going to lay off thousands and thousands of workers and pivot to a like investing billions and billions of dollars into AI instead. To build out that business you need to convince everybody that there's a big giant moon that's about to crash on the planet and you need to get a board on the good AI program train if you want to save humanity right and if you don't then get fucked and miss it
