For quite a while, it was assumed that the harsher climatic conditions of the Younger Dryas were the impetus. Their formerly reliable food sources were threatened by a colder and drier climate. The late Natufians turned to the cultivation of cereals to ensure a stable food supply. Boom, you got farming. But where the circumstances under which that happened? There have been a lot of answers to this over the years.
