The Problem With the Montevideo Unit Calculation

A major criticism of the Montevideo unit is that contraction duration and the resting period between contractions are only indirectly accounted for by this calculation. Some have proposed other ways of counting strength, but they definitely have not taken practice, taken hold in mainstream practice. The 200 Montevideo units for four hours maximum right now that's adopted by the college is how you definitely diagnose a rest of labor. But some patients may make appropriate cervical change without getting to that strength of contraction per 10 minute interval.
