Dr. Jill Richardson is a marine biologist at the University of Miami's Rosensteel School. Manatees are considered in science what we call environmental engineers or cultivation grazers. They tend to feed on seagrass beds, which then opens up space for more slow growing,. more nutritious species of seagrasses to grow.
