Merton: I think that concept of living without a Y is just very confusing and hard to grasp. But especially with the way we so long for purpose and meaning in our lives, you know, as human beings. So contemplation, by definition is not for a Y, it's not for a purpose, is to learn to be with being and salad-dewing, emptying for the sake of emptying. And again, kids play to play, right? That's what we have to call them into dinner.
