The last dragon died a year ago. The summers have been shorter since the last dragon died and the winter's longer and crueler. We'll be seeing that on the house of the dragon, assuming that show gets a full run. Dragons are sort of patterned off of dinosaurs. In fact, there's a TV tropes page about dragons as dinosaurs.
