The South's Economic Crisis

The South had something like 10,000 percent inflation over the course of the war. The printing press became one of their main industries. By 1864 enslaved blacks were toting wheelbarrows full of southern notes. People were advertising in newspapers to purchase things with salted pork, bacon and cloth. It was really a Weimar stuff by the end of the War.
