There is still a file of evidence with the Crown Prosecution Service in respect of allegations of possible misconduct in public office. The CPS have yet to make a decision about whether any officers involved in this investigation are going to be prosecuted or not. It does still leave questions about the incompetence that meant that the Met missed those opportunities to investigate him more thoroughly and potentially put him on trial earlier.
