Is There a Greater City Size Than San Francisco?
There's an optimal city size from the perspective of the incumbents in that city and when you're below that optimal size more people coming in benefits them. When you as you reach that optimum size and go beyond it the newcomers get more than a hundred percent of the benefit and the incumbents are actually worse off with each newcomer. Overall if we consider the welfare of everyone both incumbents and newcomers people will be better off overall.
