The Diamond Ace

The term empediclies is used for gods closer to human concerns than the higher Olympians who are actually given names. In later Platonist thought, and this is a later idea, the diamond ace will be given a definite sort of location in the universe. Empediclies gives us some hints as to how the course of reincarnations might go for someone like himself. And perhaps he means that everyone is a god, an exiled god traversing body after body on a journey through the elements in the age of strife.
