When people are trying to change our minds, oftentimes if what they're presenting to us is something that would require us to accommodate, we will resist. The strongest resistance is going to be anything that threatens to shame you or ostracize you. Anything that threatens your social identity is where the strongest resistance will come from. It may feel like it's you in isolation feeling that, but you're feeling the audience is really taking place.
