The Relationship Between Childhood and Sexuality
Reali tyb shows us at kind of our archicultural contradictions in the way that we think about childhood. On a show like toddlers and tearers, the children are being sexualized, right? At the same time, on a show like 16 and pregnant, you hear these girls talking about how they had never been talked to. So it's this sort of paradoxical relationship where we see childhood the kind of boundaries of childhood. It's the space, like, apart from adult sexuality. But at the same time,. we're ere kind of including child we're talking about children in kind of sexual terms, as though theyre sexual beings," she says.
