The European Union's Problems With Bulgaria
Bulgaria has consistently had either the second lowest or lowest approval rating of NATO by any member of the alliance. According to Pew Research, even at its peak, only 54% of Bulgaria held a favorable opinion in NATO. Only 12% of Bulgarians thought that Bulgaria should respond if NATO would trigger Article 5. Unlike Romania, for example, Bulgarian Romania are always compared because both countries join NATO at the same time. But unlike Romania, Romania is very much a tornado willing to accept NATO troops.
