The Importance of Attention
Our whole culture, she argues, has come down with ADHD because we live in this overstimulating environment. We are bombarded with abrasive, insistent and often meaningless claims on our senses. To the extent that we allow our attention to be jerked around in this way, we are allowing our inner world to be created by others. If you think of attention as a form of currency, then we're getting robbed all the time.
