The Importance of Permission in Art
I think when artists are pioneering ideas, they give you permission to say, listen, this is allowed. This too can be art. That can be art where previously no one had really gone there before and no one's excavated that territory. And so for artists to be able to pioneer new ideas, new territory for what art can be and what can constitute art, it's very generous. I'm pleased that you said Rosemary Trockle because she's somebody who has never had a style. So she seemingly can pull any material from anywhere and it can somehow be used in productive ways.
