The Protestant work ethic and the spirit of capitalism gets published in 1905. Weber is breaking down his ideological explanation for essentially how capitalism came into being. He's writing this in response to the Marxist conception, which I'm not going to spend any time on. But just know that this is Weber's idealist sort of version for how Capitalism came into being; it has a lot to do with the Calvinist sect.
